The brown-crowned tchagra (Tchagra australis) is a species of bird in the family Malaconotidae. The brown-crowned tchagra has a brown crown stripe bordered with black. Habitat is similar to the black-crowned tchagra, open woodland and bushed grassland. The two species may occur in the same area. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests and dry savanna. Common in moist bush, woodland, bushed grassland, on or near ground in dense shubbery.
